My current self-designed subwoofer consists of Fane Colossus 18XB driver (18 inch, 600 W continuous true power handling, only bad thing is the +/- 7mm Xmax that is a kind of limitation with the driver that is very good in other means) in a 250 liter 200 kg vented box (made of MDF) (tuned to 20 Hz). The active crossover is very complex and will be soon replaced with a more sophisticated DSP based crossover. The driver is now driven with 1200 W PA amplifier in bridge mode (2 x 700 W / 4 ohm bridge -> 1200 W / 8 ohm).
